108. The truth about linga and yoni according to Sivavakkiyar

Verse 108

விழியினோடு புனல்விளைந்த வில்லவல்லி யோனியும்
வெளியிலே பிதற்றலாம் விளைவுநின்றது இல்லையே
வெளிபரந்த தேசமும் வெளிக்குள்மூல வித்தையும்
தெளியும் வல்லஞானிகள் தெளிந்திருத்தல் திண்ணமே.

Translation:

Along with eyes and the moist place of birth of a pleasure giving young women,

One can blabber outside but the effect has never stopped,

The place where the space spread, the primal seed within that space,

It is essential for the wise to know about this clearly.

Commentary:

People put forth all sorts of theories regarding the liṅga and the yoni. They denigrade the Śaivites as worshipers of sexual symbols.  Civavākkiyar says that it really does not matter what they blabber. The effect has not stopped.  The primal seed, Śiva comes together with the supreme space Śakti and the manifested universe emerges.  

Agatthiyar in his work Agatthiyar meijnana kaviyam says clearly that the yoni are the cakra and the kundalini energy that bursts forth through them is the lingam.  Civavakkiyar is saying the same here.  The place where the ‘veli’ is spread are the six cakras. The primal seed is the power of kundalini the creative force.  This is the linga.  Only the wise know this truth.

மக்கள் லிங்கத்தைப் பற்றியும் யோனியைப் பற்றியும் பலவித கதைகளைப் பரப்பி வருகின்றனர்.  அதை ஆண்குறி வழிபாடு என்று பிதற்றுகின்றனர்.  அவர்கள் என்ன சொன்னாலும் பொருட்டில்லை என்கிறார் சிவவாக்கியர்.  அக்கதைகளினால் லிங்கத்தின் விளைவு அதாவது, குண்டலினி யோகத்தின் விளைவு, சிவனும் சக்தியும் உலகைப் படைப்பது நின்றதில்லை.  அறிவுடைய ஞானிகள் இதை வெளியும் வெளியினுள் இருக்கும் மூல வித்தும் என்றும் தெளிவாக அறிவர்.
