100. What do the holy triad seek?

Verse 100

மூன்றுமூன்று மூன்றுமே மூவர்தேவர் தேடிடும்

மூன்றும் அஞ்செழுத்துமாய் முழங்கும் அவ்வெழுத்துளே

ஈன்றதாயும் அப்பனும் இயங்குகின்ற நாதமும்

தோன்றும் மண்டலத்திலே சொல்ல எங்கும் இல்லையே

                                                                                      

Translation:

Three, three, three are all sought by the three devas,

Within that letter that asserts as three and five letters,

Within the realm where ther birth- mother, father and nāda

Function,  there is no one who can reveal this.

Commentary:

The letter referred to in the second line is a, the letter of supreme consciousness or om as a single letter.  It appears as aum, a for Śiva, u for Śakti and m for manifestation represented by nāda. 

The three threes sought by the three devas, Brahma, Viṣṇu and Rudra are

(1)               realms of sun, moon, agni,

(2)               heaven, hell and this world,

(3)               sattva, rajas and tamas the triple qualities the world is made up of.

The letter a appears as the three letters-aum and five- namacivaya or aim kleem saum and namacivaya.    Civavākkiyar closes the verse by saying there is no one in this world who could tell this.

            முதல் வரியில் குறிப்பிடப்படும் மூன்று மூன்று மூன்று என்பவை சந்திர சூரிய அக்னி மண்டலங்களையும் மண்ணுலகம், விண்ணுலகம், நரகம் என்னும் மூன்று உலகங்களையும் சத்துவம் ரஜஸ் தமஸ் என்ற முக்குணங்களையும் குறிக்கும்.  இந்த மூன்றையும் மும்மூர்த்திகளான பிரம்மா, விஷ்ணு, ருத்ரன் ஆகியோர் அறிந்துகொள்ள விழைகின்றனர். இரண்டாம் வரியில் குறிப்பிடப்படும் ஒற்றை எழுத்து பரம்பொருளைக் குறிக்கும் அ அல்லது ஓம் என்னும் ஒற்றை எழுத்தாகும்.  இந்த ஒற்றை எழுத்து அ அல்லது சிவன், உ அல்லது உமா, ம அல்லது மாயை என்ற மூன்றாகவும் நமசிவாய என்ற ஐந்தாகவும் அல்லது ஐம் க்லீம் சௌம் நமசிவாய என்பதாகவும் விரிகின்றது.  கண்ணால் காணும் இவ்வுலகம் சக்தி, சிவன், நாதம் ஆகிய மூன்றின் வெளிப்பாடு, செயல்பாடாகும்.  இந்த தத்துவத்தை விளக்கிக் கூற நானிலத்தில் ஒருவரும் இல்லை என்று சிவவாக்கியர் கூறுகிறார்.
