Verse 7
Translation:
I
do not see anything other than you to think about,
(You)
remaining wonderfully as thought and lapse of it- is it an illusion/wonder?
As
everything, supreme space and the eternity that precedes eternity,
You
within me, I within you, how is it!
Commentary:
Civavākkiyar says that the only thing that he
can think about is the Divine; nothing else as nothing else exists. However, he does not think about the Divine
at all times. There are times when he
forgets the Divine and thinks about something else. He wonders how this is possible
as the only entity that is there to think about is the Divine. He calls this a
wonder, the wonder that the same entity remains as thoughts and the lapse of
it. Or is it an illusion?
He wonders in amazement how the Divine remains
as everything, as the universe and as the eternity that precedes even eternity,
that is, the Divine is beyond time. In the fourth line he points out another
wonder. The Divine remains within him and he remains within It. An entity can either encapsulate another
entity or be encapsulated by it. It
cannot be the cover as well as that which is being covered. Civavākkiyar
questions whether all these are wonders or illusion.
