61. The form adorned by those who merge

Verse 61

அண்டம்நீ அகண்டம் நீ ஆதிமூல மானோன்நீ

கண்டம்நீ கருத்தும்நீ காவியங்கள் ஆனோன்நீ

புண்டரீக மற்றுளே புணருகின்ற புண்ணியர்

கொண்டகோல மானநேர்மை கூர்மை என்ன கூர்மையே

Translation:

You are the universe, you are the expanse, you are the primal origin,

You are the manifested, you are also the thoughts, you are the epics,

The Blessed One who unites within the lotus.

The ingenuous forms he assumes what a superior finesse!

Commentary:

Civavākkiyar admires the ingenuity with which the Ultimate Reality displays itself as various entities.  It is only the Ultimate Reality that is seen as the universe, the expansive space, thoughts, the theme of epics and other great works.  It is with the Ultimate Reality that a yogin unites in the thousand petalled-lotus at the sahasrara. 

Civavākkiyar uses the term ‘koormai’.  The second part of the last line can be interpreted as ‘what a finesse of the tortoise’, Lord Vishnu incarnated as the tortoise or korma.  A tortoise holds all its limbs within its shell under its control and remains immobile.  The Lord has all his senses under his control; he is the jitendriya, one who won all his senses.

இறைவன் என்பவன் இவ்வுலகம்; அனைத்திற்கும் ஆதி. காட்சிப்பொருட்கள், கருத்து அதிலிருந்து பிறக்கும் காவியங்கள் அனைத்தும் அவனே. யோகிகள் அத்தகைய இறைமையுடன் தாமரை மலராகக் காட்டப்படும் சஹஸ்ராரத்தில் சேருகின்றனர்.  அத்தகைய சேர்க்கை மிகத் துல்லியமானது. அதையே கூர்மை என்று சிவவாக்கியர் கூறுகிறார்.  கூர்மை என்பது கூர்மம் அல்லது ஆமை என்று கொண்டால் அது புலன்களை உள்ளடக்கிய ஆமையைப் போன்ற யோகிகளின் நிலையைக் குறிக்கும்.  அத்தகையோர் ஜிதேந்த்ரியன் என்று அழைக்கப்படுவர்.
