51.Watch the mind where deceit had died...

Verse 51

கைவடங்கள் கொண்டுநீர் கண்சிமிட்டி நிற்கிறீர்

எவ்விடங்கள் கண்டுநீர் எண்ணிஎண்ணிப் பார்க்கிறீர்

பொய் இறந்த சிந்தையைப் பொருந்தி நோக்க வல்லிரேல்

மெய்கடந்தது உம்முளே விரைந்துகூடல் ஆகுமே.

Translation:

You stand winking your eyes with deceit,

Seeking which places are you contemplating?

If you are capable of watching the mind where deceit had died

That which transcended the truth/body is within you, possible to quickly merge.

Commentary:

Civavākkiyar tells us how to realize the Ultimate Reality quickly.  Removing falsehood within us and remaining in true thoughts is the way to have the Divine take residence within our hearts.  Evil thoughts lead to evil actions. Hence, Civavākkiyar is telling us to remain in thoughts free from falsehood instead of advising us to refrain from bad actions.  The expression poi iṛanta cintaiyai refers to what Patanjali says citta vṛitti nirodha, stoppage of mental modifications.

இப்பாடலில் சிவவாக்கியர் இறைமையை எவ்வாறு பார்ப்பது என்று கூறுகிறார். கைவடங்கள் என்பது பொய் புரட்டு பித்தலாட்டம் என்று பொருள்படும். பல பொருளற்ற சடங்குகள் இறைவனைக் காட்டமாட்டா. தவறான எண்ணங்கள் தவறான செயல்களுக்கு வழிவகுக்கும்.  அதனால் சிவவாக்கியர் நம்மைத் தவறானத செயல்களைச் செய்யாதே என்று கூறாமல் தவறான எண்ணங்களை விடுத்து இருக்கக் கூறுகிறார். இறைவன் வெளியில் கோயிலில் இருக்கிறானா, ஒரு உருவத்தில் இருக்கிறானா என்று பார்க்கிறோம். அவன் அங்கு எங்கும் இல்லை.  அவனை அறிவதற்கு ஒரே வழி சிந்தையில் பொய்மையைப் போக்கடித்து உண்மை நிலையில் சத்திய நிலையில் இருப்பது.  அப்பொழுது ‘மெய் கடந்தது’- உண்மையையும் தாண்டி இருப்பது, இவ்வுடலையும் தாண்டி இருப்பது, நமக்கு வெளிப்படும். அப்பொழுது நாமே இறைநிலையில் இருப்போம். இதையே பதஞ்சலி சித்த விருத்தி நிரோதம் என்று கூறுகிறார்.
